We are sad to announce that the Trade Winds Calgary office will be closed as of March 31, 2023.
Since 2020, major funding sources that were previously granted to Trade Winds became unavailable to us, which involved much needed funds to cover administration and union training costs. Even with the emergence of funding to support apprenticeships and Truth and Reconciliation efforts, Trade Winds continues to be overlooked for funding despite our pleas.
Our Calgary location has provided training opportunities to over 1,000 Indigenous clients since 2005. As our graduates can confirm, the impact that our Calgary team and partners have made in enabling Indigenous people to succeed in the trades in southern Alberta is everlasting. While our Edmonton location remains, we hope to one day be accessible in Calgary again.
