Women’s Pre-Trades Electrical Program Starting September 2026

As we continue building pathways for women to join the trades, Trade Winds to Success is excited to announce a tuition-free pre-trades electrician training for Indigenous women in partnership with Dow Canada and the Electrical Industry Training Centres of Alberta.

This program will run in Edmonton, AB, from September 28, 2026 to January 15, 2027.

Participants will be given the opportunity to:

• Learn essential career skills to succeed in the trades.
• Be academically prepared for the electrician apprenticeship entrance exam.
• Gain extensive hands-on experience with electrical shop projects.
• Receive support as needed throughout the program to ensure successful program completion.
• Receive employment support services upon graduation.

Materials and PPE required for training will be provided by Trade Winds.

 

Eligibility:

• First Nations, Métis, and Inuit women
• Minimum 18 years of age
• Minimum grade 9 and ability to pass a basic math and reading assessment
• Ready, willing, and able to work in the electrical trade
