Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Pre-trades Training Program

September 11, 2026

Trade Winds is offering an upcoming Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) pre-trades program in partnership with Millwrights Local 1460.

Industrial Mechanics, also known as millwrights, play a vital role in the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment. They work in a variety of settings, including factories, production plants, and recreational facilities. As an Industrial Mechanic, you will perform predictive and preventative maintenance on industrial machinery, mechanical equipment, and automated production systems. You may also operate rigging equipment and dollies to safely move heavy machinery and parts, fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances.

Through the Trade Winds Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) program, students will develop career-ready skills, hands-on trade experience, and industry-recognized certifications to help them begin a career in Alberta’s Industrial Mechanic industry.
