Residential Construction/Carpentry Outreach Program with Bighorn 144A

Gain skills to start a career in carpentry or residential construction! Trade Winds to Success is partnering with Bighorn 144A of the Stoney Nakoda First Nation to offer our Residential Construction Outreach Program for its members. Training will take place from April 27, 2026 to August 7, 2026.

This program is tuition-free, and students will be provided with any supplies and PPE that is required for training. Participants will have the opportunity to gain hands-on carpentry skills while building a high-efficiency small home for the community.

Program participants will also:

• Learn essential skills to succeed in the trades.
• Be academically prepared for and write the carpenter apprenticeship entrance exam.
• Gain extensive hands-on experience in carpentry and residential construction.
• Be given a basic tool kit at graduation.

 

Eligibility:

• Member of Bighorn 144A and eligible to attend training under the community’s policies.
• Minimum grade 9 and ability to pass a basic math & reading assessment.
• Ready, willing, and able to work in the trades.
